Baruch Sadogursky

Head of Developer Relations | JFrog

Baruch Sadogursky

Baruch’s passion is speaking about technology. Well, speaking in general, but doing it about technology makes him look smart, and 17 years of hi-tech experience sure helps. When he’s not on stage (or on a plane to get there), he learns about technology, people and how they work, or more precisely, don’t work together.

Baruch is a Head of DevRel and a Developer Advocate at JFrog, a CNCF Ambassador, a passionate conference speaker on DevOps, Java and Groovy topics, and is a regular at the industry’s most prestigious events including JavaOne (where he was awarded a Rock Star award), DockerCon, Devoxx, DevOps Days, OSCON, Qcon and many others. Follow him on Twitter (as he's a very entertaining guy!) at @jbaruch.

Passion … like magnets, it can attract or repel

If you're in dev rel, it might have been because someone noticed how passionate you were about a technology and suggested that you take a role in growing and advocating for a community. Maybe they saw you in action getting other people excited about the technology (or some random crazy thing that you were really excited about that day!)

It's great if your passion is infectious, but sometimes it can go sideways if you go overboard and stop paying attention to people's reactions.

In this lightning talk, Baruch and Tamao will demonstrate some less-than-ideal scenarios and show how to pause and apply leadership skills such as actively listening, mirroring, reading body language, and checking in with emotions.
